Garden Parties and Barbecues

Whilst looking through our growing range of food and drink, it occurred to us that we now have an excellent selection of items for the perfect barbecue or garden party. Given that we're also coming up to National Barbecue Week (May 25th ~ June 3rd), we decided to write this page to make it easy for you to find them all.

Ideally you need good food, good drink, and preferably something different. Well, for these you've come to the right place.

Jethro's MarinadesOn the food front, the something different comes from our excellent selection of sauces, marinades and vinaigrettes. See our recipe collection for ideas.

Tomato and Pepper RelishAnd for extra side dishes there is also our selection of chutneys, relishes and jellies in the accompaniments section.

Medlar Jelly"Jellies?" we hear you ask, "Are they for desert?". Well, they could be, but we're talking about Sloe & Apple Jelly (that's sloe as in sloe gin), Medlar Jelly (a fruit related to apples, pears and quinces) and Quince Jelly which (in a heavily spiced version) was served by the Tudors to accompany strongly flavoured meats such as pork and venison.

Apple and Ginger ChutneyAnd we have quite possibly too many chutneys and relishes to choose from. There is, for example, Fiery Orange Chutney which is exactly what it says on the label, Tomato & Sweet Pepper Relish, and Plum & Courgette Chutney, a gently cooling accompaniment to hot, spicy dishes. For the full list, see the accompaniments section in the Grocery.

Red Dragon labelNow, you'll need some beer, and what better beer to serve with good food than British Real Ale. Most beers today are brewed with too much gas — not much good when you're trying to enjoy too much food. Good Real Ale is only as gassy as a beer should ever be — and that's not very gassy.

Bottles of Breconshire Brewery Real AleOur ales from the Breconshire Brewery include the smooth, easy drinking Red Dragon, the dark, malty and well-hopped Ramblers Ruin, and Golden Bannau, a Brown Ale specially commissioned to celebrate 50 years of the Brecon Beacons National Park and based on a recipe as old as the park itself.

Most of these ales are not only available in bottles, but also in the 8-pint mini-cask, the 18-pint mini-pin, and the 36-pint poly-pin. The pins and casks are perfect for any party, just pop them on a table and people can help themselves.

Moor's Organic mixed case selectionOf course, ale is not to everyone's taste. Our apple (and pear) juice selection is extensive to say the least. From the gently sweet Jonagold to the popular Cox and the tart, palate-cleansing Bramley's Seedling, there's a refreshing juice for everyone.

Soaps from the Whitstable Soap CompanyWhilst we're packing all these goodies for you, there may be a few gaps left in the box so, to save us just bunging in more bio-degradable filler, why not add a bar or three of Whitstable Soap Company soap to your order. Gorgeous scents like Honeysuckle, Frankincense & Myrrh, and Lavender — perfect for freshening up those sticky hands after all that good food.

And don't forget, all orders over £35 get free delivery!

Wishing you the very best for your party —
