Although not a formally trained artist Greg has spent over 50 years researching and applying most artistic forms and is, arguably, one of the finest exponents of surrealist and fantasy art in the country today. From classical sculpture to watercolour painting he has completed innumerable artistic projects in both Great Britain and Australia, with many one man and shared exhibitions in both countries. Initially known for his detailed fantasy and surrealistic work he branched out into impressionism, realism and super realism for trompe l'oeil, portraiture and landscape projects. A skilled makeup artist and master prop maker, he has applied his artistic talents to aid and promote local organisations and schools. Greg also runs local art classes in the Bromley area covering most of the above artistic genres.
"So where does my inspiration come from?
An easy question to answer?
I am not sure. As an artist I am much like a sponge, absorbing everything I hear, see and feel. From impending disaster scenarios portrayed on the news, to quirky ideas that pop into my head after some moving event. Like every other person I react to things by getting sad, angry, frustrated, hopeful and, of course, joyful and happy. These emotions, and the confusion produced if they change too rapidly, I try to channel into my work. It has taken a great deal of time to acquire sufficient skills to capture what I see in my mind’s eye. I am fascinated by the world I see and the one I can imagine. I have my own ideas about my work, but it is probably best if you work out your own."
