Oakwood Farm

Oakwood Farm Logo Oakwood Farm, set in 93 acres of the beautiful East Sussex countryside, was planted with apple trees in 1947 and has been in production ever since. Currently the farm has approximately 40 acres of orchards.

The Orchards at Oakwood FarmIn 1997 Oakwood began the three year conversion process to organic farming and has been growing fruit in accordance with organic standards since September of that year. Accordingly the farm actively encourages insects and plants on to the land which complement the organic ethos; these include ladybirds, hoverflies and herbaceous hedgerow plants. Diverse wildlife helps to maintain a natural balance and keep down the number of unwanted pests. Naturally occurring substances are used to control disease and pests and to provide food for the trees. In 1999 the farm was awarded full organic status and all crops harvested since 2000 are certified organic.
