Well, here it is at last! Welcome to issue number three of the BritShopS newsletter.
What a time we have had since the last newsletter! At the end of April we launched a new website which coincided with our first ever press release in the May issue of Best of British magazine. Now, alongside the shopping site, we have an information site wherein you will find a detailed history of all our suppliers. You will also find a page about BritShopS which will give you a revealing insight into the BritShopS team, including two frighteningly accurate caricatures of the BritShopS founders, a potted history of our original ideas, where we started and where we hope to go in the future.
Also on the information page is a News section which gives you a rolling update on all BritShopS news, new suppliers, special events and new products. Soon to come will be a section containing all the previous newsletters too so you can catch up on any you may have missed.
There are numerous other items on the Information site, which include a recipe page and suggestions for that good old weekend pastime, the British summertime barbecue!
As well as our new Information site, you will be glad to hear we also have several new suppliers. It's not all food and drink at the emporium of Great British goods, we now have two jewellery makers on our books. We were delighted to welcome Rhiannon in Wales with her extraordinary selection of quality gold and silver jewellery which is inspired, in the main, by Celtic art and design. Then, early this year, we welcomed one of Hatton Garden's premier jewellery manufacturers, Flawless Jewellery, into the BritShopS family. Flawless offer a wide range of bespoke handmade pieces tailored to your individual requirements and price. If that wasn't enough, Flawless have given us five exclusive sapphire and diamond pendants to sell. These beautiful necklaces are available only through the BritShopS website and once they are sold no others quite like them will become available again.
Who else have we added to the list? Well we now have Mead Farm Cakes. Fabulously iced and fruit decorated, you can take it from us they are absolutely delicious! Or, if you'd rather not take it from us, just pop along to our shopping site and order one, or three. Mead Farm even produce a no-added-sugar fruit cake which is ideal for those who need to watch their sugar levels.
We have also brought Farmhouse Kitchen to the table with their extensive range of homemade jams, marmalades and chutneys, from the traditional fruit jams and marmalades to the more exotic (Greengage jam for instance) and all the way up to the fabulous Sizzling Hot Tomato Chutney. Wow!
Thinking of having a barbecue on those long sun soaked summer weekends? Well we have that covered too! Jethros Marinades offer an extensive range of sauces, vinaigrettes and, surprise surprise, marinades. Perfect for everything from soaking the meats to spicing up the accompanying salad. We have the drinks too! The Davenport Vineyard 2004 vintage Limney Estate sparkling wine is a crisp, dry wine with the added advantage of a fine mousse and prolonged fizz. We understand the prolonged fizz bit and we're taking their word on the fine mousse. Perfect for the barbecue or a special family occasion, or any time when you'd like to offer your guests a fine mousse.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Breconshire Brewery have brewed a new beer, and we're selling it. Made from an old recipe, Golden Bannau is especially brewed for the occasion and is only available in limited quantities, so order today to avoid disappointment.
If you don't fancy an alcoholic drink then fear not, we have unfermented fruit juice as well. With Moors Organic and Oakwood Farm fruit juices added to our already impressive fruit juice selection we now have a huge range of pure fruit juices available.
Away from the barbecue and into the bathroom! BritShopS were thrilled to welcome The Whitstable Soap Company into the fold. A number of hand-made, fragranced soaps are available for you to enjoy including Bluebell, Geranium, Honeysuckle, and even Frankincense & Myrrh (the jewellers do the gold). You can purchase these and other wonderfully scented soaps individually, in packets, or as gift sets. The perfect antidote to the rigours of the washing up after the barbecue guests have all gone home.
We believe in a fair price for a quality product, so our prices match our suppliers' retail prices. As a consequence we believe you can not get the products we offer any cheaper anywhere else. Combined with our promise to avoid psychological pricing, which does occasionally lead to a difference of a few pence here and there, this constitutes the new BritShopS Fair Price Policy. Unlike the big supermarkets we believe in quality items fairly priced as opposed to the buy cheap, sell high, huge profit margin approach.
We also believe, quite reasonably we think, that our suppliers know best how to make their own goods, so we have also given an undertaking never to interfere in their manufacturing process.
BritShopS is always keen to hear from our customers and, where possible and practicable, we investigate every suggestion our customers make. As a result of customer feedback we are pleased to announce a complete revision of our delivery charges. Our new banded pricing starts at just £3 and, combined with free delivery for purchases over £35, this now makes it easier for new customers to dip a toe in BritShopS pool of palpable delights! But please note that these delivery charges relate, at present, to UK mainland deliveries only.
We are also hard at work on the introduction of a new voucher scheme. We hope to be issuing money off vouchers to all new customers in the very near future. As a valued customer/BritShopS subscriber we feel it is only fair that you too should receive the benefits that the new customers will get so we will send you one of the vouchers to redeem against any items you wish on your next purchase through BritShopS as soon as the scheme is released on to the site.
We are offering you the opportunity to earn extra vouchers in future too! For every new customer you recommend we will give you a £5 voucher to use on your subsequent purchase. All the new referee has to do is send us a brief message in the contact us page giving the details of who referred them and, as soon as they make a purchase, you will receive your voucher.
We are sorry this has been such a long newsletter but, as we are sure you will agree, rather a lot has happened since our last one. We aim to start producing the newsletter at one month intervals and we will publish the next one on 1st August 2007. If you have missed any of the previous newsletters you can find them on the BritShopS Information Site. In the meantime thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and may we take this opportunity to wish you a very happy, fun-filled and peaceful summer.
Oh yes, one last thing before we go. Despite there now being two web sites, you still need only remember (or bookmark) one web site address www.BritShopS.co.uk. There you'll find a nice little page that points you toward the two sites in a friendly way.
BREAKING NEWS:
In the last couple of days we have managed to entice two more suppliers into the BritShopS family. Greg D'Souza is arguably one of the country's finest surrealist and fantasy artists and he has provided four of his original paintings for sale through BritShopS. We think they look fantastic, and ever so slightly surreal.
We will also be selling a range confectionery from Brays Sweets in Wales. From boxed sweets and tinned sweets through to the good old fashioned sweets in big glass jars, BritShopS can now offer a trip back down memory lane and into the sweet shop on the way home from school.
Kind Regards
The BritShopS Team
